Forums temporarily down

I completed the site upgrade, but unfortunately the forums did not join us on the other side. All of the posts are still alive, but the new version of Drupal does not have the capability to display them. The module author expects to have an update for the forums that is compatible with the new Drupal within a week. I'm less than pleased that the new version is not backward-compatible, but I suppose it is a free system. Still, that seems a glaring bug for something so widely used.

Sorry for the inconvenience; hopefully everything will be back to normal within the week.

Ah, one of the things I don't miss from my systems admin days. :)

I worked as a system admin

I worked as a system admin and college, and I definitely do not miss dealing with this stuff on a daily basis...

Frustrating News

Sorry to hear the upgrade turned into a forum downgrade.

Yeah, I'm bummed

Yeah, I'm bummed -- I should have investigated a little further before trying to make the switch, especially since my motivation in the first place was to improve the functionality of the forums! The alternative is to try to revert back to the old version, but I don't see that going well.

The module author has indicated there should be a new version of the forums ready soon, and I'm crossing my fingers that he'll get it done quickly. Fortunately, PeakOilDesign is still small (and there's only a handful of us using the forums so far) so it hopefully won't turn away too many people. And at least I'll know to be a little more careful in the future when upgrading...
