I'm getting fed up with the continuing delays in the forum module. The module author is doing it in his own free time, but he's been promising that completion is "just a week away" for about the past month. I consider forums to be a really important part of PeakOilDesign and it really bugs me that we've been without a forum for so many weeks now.
So, I'd like to take a poll among the users here: Do we continue to wait for the update to the old forum or should I try to recreate what we had from scratch with another forum utility?
The drawbacks of starting form scratch are that we would lose all the posts we had (I could eventually get the info itself back, however) and everyone's post counts would reset to zero. Let me know what you think...

Tough Call
There are a few seeded discussions in the forums worthy of keeping, but at the same time the forums are still very young. Personally I won't mind seeing my content deleted.
Update
The module author just posted a message that the upgrade will be more complex than he thought (after constant promises that it was easy, mundane work left). I've had enough -- so I'm going to switch over to the default forum module that comes with Drupal.
My assumption is that the other forum will eventually be updated, in which case I'll be able to retrieve the old threads that we had. (If I knew enough about SQL I could probably retrieve them right now...and if I was really good I could probably figure out a way to switch the posts themselves into the other forum...but alas...)
Stand by while I try to recreate what we had before.
